The 2012 Presidential election is off and running. This next year's election will be an important one for the nation.
One of the distrubing things is that some of the canidate and the polical pundance are trying to marginalize the issue of faith and non-important in the election of leaders.
I would simple say that if a leader's faith in non-important to them, their fiath is not worth very much.
Mike Huckabee said it best in his book, Character IS the Issues. He said that faith determines values, values determine character and that character determines every decision we make in life and leadership.
If a leaders faith is important to them it does matter. Their education matters, their family matters, their experience matters, their idology matters and their FAITH MATTERS.
9-11-01 was a matter of faith. The founding of America was a matter of faith. Many of the educational institutions of this country were founded as a matter of faith.
When we marginalize faith and the role it plays in our nation we marginalize the fiber and fabric of our nation.
Somehow while we do not expect our nation to be a theocracy. We do expect our leaders know what and who our national leaders believe in to guide them in the decision that they make that will effect each of us.
I know, I am a preacher and you would expect me to make a big deal of Faith. However, faith is a big deal weather you are a ministery, a christian or a memeber of some other faith group or have no faith.
Lets face it weather you believe in the God we say we trust of weather you don't. It matters graeatly. While it is not the only determining factor in selecting a leader, it is a factor. Not everyone who I think has a faith that I would agree with have the leadership skills to serve in any office.
What do you think? Does faith matter in our leaders? We what them to know and we what them believe.
